JOB OPPORTUNITY: District & Block Coordinators for WASH Program (Amroha, Uttar Pradesh)

UDAAN Society, a leading NGO with over 20 years of experience in WASH and community development, is seeking dedicated and experienced professionals for a transformative WASH program in Uttar Pradesh. We are looking for:
- 1 District Coordinator
- 10 Block Coordinators
(Location: Amroha District, Uttar Pradesh)
About the Project:
This vital partnership, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 5 and 6, aims to “Convene, Converge and Catalyse resources for system strengthening of sustainable WASH programmes with a focus on marginalised and vulnerable communities of Uttar Pradesh.” The project supports the Government of India and Uttar Pradesh’s Swachh Bharat Mission, Grameen (SBM-G) and Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) to ensure all households and institutions in rural Uttar Pradesh have access to improved and climate-resilient WASH facilities and services. A key focus is on addressing critical gaps in safely managed sanitation, drinking water, and gender discrimination in WASH.
Key Responsibilities (General, Specifics will vary by role):
- Facilitate and coordinate program activities in close collaboration with UNICEF and state/district administrative units (SBM-G, JJM, School and Anganwadi Kayakalp etc.).
- Support capacity building initiatives for various stakeholders including government functionaries, communities, and local institutions.
- Implement evidence-based advocacy to realize children’s and women’s rights to water and sanitation.
- Ensure women’s participation (at least one-third) in all planning, implementation, monitoring, and execution meetings.
- Actively involve Elected Women Representatives in community-level engagements.
- Promote inclusive representation of women and girls from all community sections in decision-making processes.
- Support the achievement of project outputs related to safely managed sanitation, drinking water, and WASH in institutions.
- Contribute to gender-responsive WASH programming, including Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management (MHHM) sensitization for adolescent girls and boys.
- Ensure compliance with Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) guidelines.
Desired Profile:
- Proven experience in the WASH sector, community mobilization, and system strengthening.
- Understanding of government flagship programs like SBM-G and JJM.
- Strong commitment to gender equality and social inclusion in WASH programming.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and training skills.
- Ability to work effectively with government officials, communities, and diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with the local language (Hindi) is essential.
Project Duration:
The partnership aims to achieve its objectives by June 2026, with overall project goals extending to 2027.
